Frequent Asked Questions

Who do I have to contact to make a reservation?

- If you choose an accommodation which is marketed by the reservation service (in this case, only the address and phone number of the reservation service appears on the detailed contact form of the accommodation), you will need to either contact the reservation service by phone (04.72.77.17.50), by e-mail, or make your reservation on the Internet.

- If you choose an accommodation which is in shared management (in this case, on the detailed contact form of the accommodation, you can read at the same time the address and phone number of the reservation service and those of the owners), you have the choice. You can contact either the reservation service or the owners directly. Note that in certain cases, it is preferable to contact the reservation service, particularly if you wish to sign for the cancellation insurance, to pay by credit card, holiday vouchers or gift vouchers Gîtes de France...

- If you choose an accommodation which is only marketed directly by the owners (in this case, only the address and phone number of the owners appear on the detailed contact form of the accommodation), you will need to get in touch with the owner directly. You need to ask for a rental contract which defines clearly your rental agreements!

What is the procedure of reservation via the reservation service?

If you reserve by phone or by e-mail, or by Internet less than 6 months before the beginning of your stay, a rental agreement and a detailed description of the accommodation will be sent to you. A 25% deposit and the signed contract will be asked under 7 days after the reservation.

The full payment must be paid one month before the beginning of the rental agreement.

N.B: in case of reservation more than 6 months before the arrival, only the rental agreement will be asked under 7 days. A mail will remind you the date of payment of the deposit 6 months before the beginning of the contract.

What means of payment may I use?

You can pay your stay by bank check, cash, credit card, bank transfer, postal order, holiday vouchers or gift vouchers Gîtes de France.

Warning: bank checks are no longer accepted less then 2 weeks before the arrival in the accomodations.

What are the additional fees?

Set-up fees are perceived by the reservation service (8 euros for the reservations from 1 to 3 overnight stays and 14 euros for the reservations of 4 overnight stays and more or for the reservations made less then 7 days before the arrival).

A cancellation insurance of 4 % of the price of the stay is also proposed to you. Strongly advised, it remains optional.

Depending on the accommodations, a surcharge for electricity, heating, welcome of an animal, etc. … can be asked to be paid at the end of your stay to the owner, as well as the tourist tax collected in certain municipalities.

Are accommodations rentable for short stays?

Some accommodations are rentable for short stays from 1 to 4 overnight stays. In this case, the corresponding rates (one night, weekend, 3 nights and 4 nights) are specified in the price list. Some accommodations offer the possibility of short stays whatever the day of arrival.

I wish to make a long stay in a self-catered holiday home in the countryside (gîtes rural), how to proceed?

The legal maximum duration of stay in the same self-catered holiday home in the countryside (gîtes rural) is of twelve consecutive weeks, distributed in three successive contracts of four weeks. A financial commitment is asked at the reservation time for the entire stay, according to the procedure indicated above. (Cf. What is the procedure of reservation via the reservation service?)

A preferential rate is often proposed by the owners for long stays (minimum four consecutive weeks), fixed at the beginning of the year and not negotiable.

What are the conditions of last-minute reservation?

In case of less than fifteen days before your arrival in the accommodation, we will ask you an e-mail address to send you the rent document. To validate your reservation, it will be necessary that you pay your entire stay by credit card (possibly bank transfer or holiday vouchers if the deadline allows it, by contacting the reservation service). Note that bank checks are not any more accepted for the last-minute reservations (J-15).

Warning: last-minute reservations are submitted to the agreement of the owner and to his own availability.

Are all the accommodations rentable on internet ?

Only the accommodations marketed by the reservation service or in shared management with the owners, can be reserved on-line.

Is the payment by credit card secured?

The payment of your on-line stay is made on a secure page of our website, as shown by the small yellow padlock of the lower right side of your screen or 'https' before the url of the website.

During an on-line reservation, do I have to pay by credit card?

Three  possible situations :

- Your stay is planned in more than 6 months: during your on-line reservation no payement will be asked. The contract will be sent to you by our reservation service and you will simply need to return it signed for proof of your commitment. A reminder for the payment of deposit will then be sent to you 6 months before your arrival.

- Your stay is planned in less than 6 months: a deposit will automatically be asked at the time of your reservation on the Internet.

- If you reserve less than a month before your arrival, you will have to pay the entire amount of the rent.

How long in advance can I reserve on internet?

You can reserve on-line until 7 days before your arrival.

May I stay with my animal?

Dogs and cats are welcomed in most of Gîtes de France's accommodations.

However, for diverse reasons (allergy problems, presence of other animals), they can be refused at some of our owners accommodations. In this case, a small specific pictogram (crossed dog) on the form of the accommodation, informs you about the impossibility to stay with your animal.

Also, in certain accommodations, a supplement can be asked to you. You will have to pay it directly to the owners at the beginning of your stay. The amount of this supplement is clearly indicated to you, either in the description of the accommodation, or in the price table.

Who will hand me the keys of the accommodation upon my arrival?

You will have taken care, a few days before the beginning of you stay, to warn the owners of the time of your arrival; they will wait for you in the accommodation at the hour suited to welcome you and do the inventory of fixtures.

What do I have to present upon my arrival in the accommodation?

When you arrive, you have to present to the owner the exchange voucher delivered by the reservation service at the time of the payment, or, for the direct reservations, any other rented accommodations document sent by the owner justifying the validity of your reservation. It is also at this moment that you will have to give your deposit and the household fee (the amounts of these various fees are noted in your contract or in the descriptive form of the accommodation).

What do I have to bring for my stay?

You will have to bring your own sheets, bathroom linen and linen (except in accommodations for which these services are supplied, in this case it is mentioned in the descriptive form). However, you can also rent them if you prefer. The rent of linen is possible in most of the accommodations (service to be paid at the end of the stay to the owners).

Also, do not forget your food to cook your own meals because the self-catering holiday home in the countryside and the 'gîte City Break' in town do not propose restoration! In certain accommodations, you will find the essentials (salt, pepper, oil, household products...ask the owners for more information).
